What to Expect

Launch Ports

Any Ohio port is available to fit your plans Overkill Angling is primarily a walleye trolling fishing charter. We chase the most aggressive biting walleye as they travel from West to East as they travel through the
year. In the spring (March -May) we follow the walleye migration and launch from ports in Catawba to Lorain. During the summer (June-August) the migrating walleye are in Lake Erie’s central basin, so we launch from ports in Lorain to Cleveland areas. In the later summer months and fall (September – December) the walleye are looking for the colder deeper water and so we will launch from the Cleveland to Geneva ports.

Launching port locations

Overkill Angling is built around one simple strategy: stay on the most aggressive, active walleye all season long. Because Lake Erie walleye are constantly on the move, we adapt by fishing multiple Ohio ports throughout the year to keep you on the best bite possible. In the spring (March through May), we track the annual walleye migration as fish move east along the southern shoreline. During this time, trips typically launch from ports between Catawba Island and Lorain, putting us in prime position to intercept pre- and post-spawn fish that are feeding aggressively.

As summer sets in (June through August), the migration pushes into the central basin of Lake Erie. This is when we focus our efforts between Lorain and Cleveland, where large schools of walleye settle into deeper, cooler water and provide consistent trolling action. In late summer through fall (September through December), walleye continue east and seek even colder, deeper water. During this period, we shift operations to ports from Cleveland to Geneva, staying dialed in on some of the best trophy-class fishing opportunities of the year. With flexible launch locations across Ohio’s Lake Erie shoreline, Overkill Angling ensures every trip is positioned for success—no matter when you book.
